According to oddsmakers at OddsSeeker, Michigan will soon overtake New Jersey as the largest iGaming market in the United States.

New Jersey's Division of Gaming Enforcement and Michigan's Gaming Control Board provided the data, which was collated by OddsSeeker.

When comparing states with similar populations, New Jersey comes out on top with $87.89 in gaming income per person, while Michigan comes in at a lower $75.31.

While online gambling is relatively new to Michigan, the rapid growth of the industry exposes incredible pent-up demand that likely exists across many states where online gambling has yet to be legalised, as noted by OddsSeeker. Michigan only legalised online gambling in January 2021, while New Jersey did so in November 2013.

BetMGM ranked first in New Jersey and BetRivers ranked second in Michigan when it comes to legal online casinos. DraftKings, FanDuel, the Golden Nugget, and WynnBet were later added to the list for New Jersey. Caesars came in at number three for Michigan, behind the big four of DraftKings, FanDuel, and WynnBet.

New Jersey casinos set a new revenue record of $140.7m in March 2022, putting them ahead of Michigan online casinos during the first six months of the year. However, OddsSeeker predicts that Michigan online casinos will soon overtake New Jersey casinos.

Based on New Jersey's year-over-year growth trend since its start, OddsSeeker Sports Editor Frank Weber predicts that Michigan will soon overtake New Jersey in online gambling revenues, making it the largest and most important betting and iGaming market in the United States.
