Betway inks three-year agreement with FC Schalke 04

The bookmaker will become the club's premium partner in a three-year arrangement, which means Betway's name will be visible throughout the Veltins-Arena for the next three seasons.  

Betway describes the agreement as a "huge supporter of the biggest teams around the world," and it adds to its increasing portfolio of sports sponsorships.  

The firm has also lately established ties with tennis events such as the Nordea Open and the Hamburg Open.  

It also sponsors football clubs such as West Ham United, Deportivo Alaves, and RCD Espanyol. 

"It's a great honour to be partnering with FC Schalke 04, one of the most recognised names in German football," said Maik Brodowski, Betway's Head of Marketing for Germany.  

"We are excited to support the club and their ambitions to return to the Bundesliga."

"The premium partnership will provide Betway with extensive advertising and marketing rights in the coming years." 

"Together with Betway, we agreed on a long-term partnership, which guarantees us security through the new legal regulation of gaming in Germany," said Alexander Jobst, Schalke's board member for Marketing, Sales, and Organisation.

Betway was created in 2006 and currently operates in several regulated marketplaces.

GI Verdict: Given the club's historic history, the decision to collaborate with Schalke is a wise one, since the sponsorship cost will likely be reduced this season - following Schalke's relegation to Germany's second tier).
