The sum is based on the charity's request that those who earn from gambling in the United Kingdom pay at least 0.1% of their yearly gross gaming yield (GGY) directly to GambleAware from April to December 2020.
When it comes to the largest contributions, Flutter Entertainment topped the way with a gift of £874,000 during the time, while Bet365 contributed £763,000. William Hill has given £540,000 thus far, but has promised a total of £1.04 million for the 2020/21 fiscal year.
Gamesys came in second with a £450,000 gift, followed by Betway with £134,000 and 888 Holdings with £50,000. Petfre (Gibraltar Limited) gave three distinct gifts totaling more than £102,000, while Casumo donated twice, totaling more than £43,000.
Other notable contributions include Videoslots' £30,000 donation, Praesepe Holdings' commitment of £85,500, and Greentube's pledge of £61,000 for the year.
GambleAware also stated that it obtained £8.8 million in regulatory settlements agreed upon by the industry and the Gambling Commission throughout the time, allowing the charity to invest in a variety of research, education, and treatment programmes.
This included £3 million from William Hill for regulatory violations at its Mr Green subsidiary in February, and £5.8 million from Betway, which was fined £11.6 million by the Gambling Commission in March for a number of VIP failings.
