For more than a decade, this has been the norm for using various digital services, including banking and government websites. While EasyID (NemID) has been widely adopted, it will shortly be superseded by MyID (MitID).
The Danish government and the commercial sector collaborated on this in order to meet updated security standards and include cutting-edge innovations.
The DGA has said that licensees would be given a brief transition period until NemID is phased out in order to allow operators to make the changeover to MitID.
The Danish Gambling Authority stated, "The Danish Gambling Authority notes that it is possible to use both NemID and MitID until NemID is phased out, which means that licence holders will have a period to implement the changes that MitID requires."
Updates to sections 7 of Executive Orders 1274 and 1276, which govern internet casinos and online betting, respectively, necessitated this revision.
An electronic ID issued by the Danish national identity programme or an electronic ID recognised by the Danish Gambling Authority is required for both of these.
The initial release of MitID was supposed to occur in May of 2021, but this was pushed back. DGA officials have promised a fresh newsletter and an updated gambling FAQ "as soon as possible."
