The Norsk Rikstoto licence has been renewed for the next ten years by the Norwegian government.

Because of this extension, the state-backed horse racing betting operator in Norway will be able to maintain its position as the only provider of betting options on the equestrian sports market in the country.

This implies that Norsk Tipping and Norsk Rikstoto have the only rights to provide games that require specific public control. Norsk Rikstoto notes that this is because games that require particular public control contain big rewards, high turnover, or a high danger of establishing gambling issues. The renewal of the licence gives Norsk Tipping and Norsk Rikstoto these rights.

According to Anette Trettebergstuen, the Minister for Culture and Equality, "Norsk Rikstoto demonstrates that they take seriously their role as an exclusive rights provider, and that is a positive development."

"A significant number of Norwegians struggle with addiction to gambling, and the primary objective of any policy pertaining to gambling should be to eliminate all of the potential for harm that gambling poses." 

"In order to lessen the likelihood of people developing gambling issues or being addicted to gambling, the Parliament of Norway has enacted a variety of preventative measures. At the same time, we want to make sure that charitable organisations and sports may continue to benefit from the money that is made through gambling.

Norsk Rikstoto is a Norwegian foundation that was established in 1982 by Det Norske Travselskap and Norsk Jockeyklub. The foundation holds a licence from the state that allows it to run a totalizer company within the realm of equestrian sports. The organisation said that it donates a portion of its income to institutions that support equestrian activities, horse keeping, and the breeding of Norwegian horses.

Norsk Rikstoto made the decision to use both Agillic and Tealium in August 2022 in order to systematise its customer data, customise its messages, and ultimately enhance its customers' overall experience.

By forming these strategic alliances, Norsk Rikstoto intends to strengthen the level of customised communication it has with clients, with the goal of educating them on how to make bets and ensuring that the promotion of responsible gambling remains an integral part of their experience.
